Required Qualifications: Ph.D. or ABD in a discipline related to Korean Studies. Academic qualifications in Korean language and culture, with a diverse academic background in the discipline. Full time experience teaching the Korean language and must be able to teach courses in Korean culture. Undergraduate teaching experience in Korean language and culture.

Full time experience in academic advising of Korean Studies minors. Full time experience in multi-tasking with high-level departmental administrative responsibilities and coordination skills. Full time experience in development and enhancement of academic programs.

Preferred Qualifications: Grant application experience. Ability to connect with academic and cultural organizations, within and outside Korea (particularly in the U.S.). Experience in developing campus and community related cultural events and programs (outreach activities), films and talks. Experience in organizing, guiding and supporting student clubs (e.g. “Korean Culture Club” or similar organizations on campus). Development and maintenance of program web site.

Responsibilities & Requirements: The appointment is a dual appointment for teaching and administration:

  • Teaching: The incumbent will teach four courses in Korean studies per academic year.
  • Administration: The incumbent will take a responsibility as Assistant Director of the Center for Korean Studies. Will be in charge of the Center’s Administrative, Academic, and Cultural programs.

Special Notes: This is a non-tenure track position. This is a full time appointment. FLSA Exempt position, not eligible for the overtime provisions of the FLSA. Internal and external search to occur simultaneously. Anticipated Start Date: September 1, 2012
