[App] Academy of Korean Studies Summer Program for International Students

The Academy of Korean Studies (AKS) has announced its 19th AKS Summer Program for International Students, which will take place August 1 to August 26, 2011.

This intensive summer program for international students in Korean studies is composed of components such as special lectures on Korea, intensive readings and discussions in Korean, field trips, excursions, and traditional cultural activities. The program will be conducted in Korean with some lectures in English. Applicants should possess sufficient Korean-language proficiency to understand lectures in Korean.

Applications will be accepted between March 14 and April 15, 2011. Applications received after the deadline will be not be considered. The application form and further information can be found on the AKS Web site: http://intl.aks.ac.kr/english/viewtopic.php?t=388.

Among required supporting materials are official university transcripts (not photocopies) and two letters of recommendation. Applicants will be notified of their acceptance by e-mail by May 20, 2011, and will be announced on the AKS Web site.

Participants will have access to the facilities of the Academy of Korean Studies, including the guesthouse, library, photocopy room, and so on. The Academy will cover the cost of registration, lectures, accommodations, and meals during the program as well as expenses incurred during field trips and excursions. Participants are responsible for their travel expenses to and from Korea, including airfare and transportation fee from airport to the Academy.
