Twelve-Month Limited Term Appointment in Human Geography

Carleton University’s Department of Geography and Environmental Studies invites applications for a 12-month limited term appointment in Human Geography. The appointment will commence on 1 July 2011 and will be at the Instructor rank.
Applicants should have at least a Master’s degree in Human Geography or a related field at the time of appointment and previous teaching experience would be an asset.
The appointment carries a 3.5 credit teaching load. The successful applicant will teach the following courses (i): GEOG2200 Global Connections in the fall term, which is offered in a regular classroom format and also broadcast via Carleton University On-Line (ii) FYSM1100 Its Your Environment during the fall and winter terms; and (iii) GEOG4021 Culture, Identity and Place in the winter term. The individual will also be responsible for supervising several Honours Research Projects in Geography and/or Environmental Studies in the fall and winter terms, and other duties as assigned.Carleton’s Department of Geography and Environmental Studies (DGES) delivers five undergraduate programs (BA in Environmental Studies, BA and BSc in Geography, BA and BSc in Geomatics) and three graduate programs in Geography (M.A., M.Sc. and Ph.D.). It is home to about 500 undergraduate majors and 80 graduate students, and the Department is committed to teaching and research that focuses on theoretical and applied aspects of interdisciplinary scholarship.
