Note the citizenship requirement — non-Korean nationals only. And I have to say, Korean foundations produce some of the most fantastically messy forms and documents I have ever seen. I cleaned up what’s below just so I can post it here. It’s like they have no sense of outline or structural hierarchy, and a total disregard for readability or practicality. Nobody uses tabs or styles, just spacebar, spacebar, spacebar. And people: if you put a bullet in front of every line, it no longer functions as a point of emphasis!

2011 AKS Thesis Grant

The Academy of Korean Studies invites both undergraduate and graduate students majoring in Korean Studies to apply for the new AKS Thesis and Research Grant program.

1. Grant Benefits

  â—¦ Participation award : 2,000,000KW

2. Eligibility
  â—¦ Students attending undergraduate or graduate courses in Korean Studies at an overseas university (non-Korean citizen)

3. How to apply
  â—¦ Application form (Download)
  â—¦ Original copy of the essay related to Korean Studies
    – Thesis : Times New Roman 12pt, Double space approximately 5,000 words
    – Abstract : Times New Roman 12pt, Double space approximately 300 words
  â—¦ Certificate of enrollment
  â—¦ Letter of recommendation (Advisor or Dean)
  â—¦ The papers accepted or published in an academic journal are given priorities
  â—¦ Birth Certificate(or copy of passport)

4. Deadline & Submission
  â—¦ Deadline : Aug. 31, 2011
  â—¦ On-line submission (gradaks@aks.ac.kr) preferred, but applications sent by mail to arrive before Aug. 31, 2011 will also be accepted.

1. 지원 내역
◦ 우수상 : 장려금 5,000,000원
◦ 장려상 : 장려금 2,000,000원
2. 지원 자격 및 선정 기준
◦ 해외 대학 한국학 전공 학부생, 석․박사과정생(외국국적자)
◦ 한국학 관련 우수 논문 작성자
◦ 한국학 관련 전공 교수(지도 교수) 또는 학과장 추천을 받은 자
◦ 단독연구(개인) 혹은 공동연구(3인 이하) 신청 가능
3. 제출 서류
◦ 지원서 (소정양식)
◦ 논문 및 논문요약본
– 논문 : A4 15매 내외, 글자 Times New Roman 12pt
– 논문요약본 : A4 2매 내외, 글자 Times New Roman 12pt
◦ 재학증명서
◦ 추천서 1부(전공교수 또는 학과장)
◦ 공인학술지에 발표한 경우 발표논문 별쇄본 1부(해당자에 한함)
– 저자명, 논문명, 잡지명, 출판사명, 게재논문 권과 수록면, 국제표준정기 간행물번호(ISBN)ê°€ 명시된 서류 1부
◦ 외국국적증명서(여권사본 등)
※학부생의 경우 레포트 형식의 논문도 가능
4. 지원마감일 및 제출방법
◦ 2011년 8월 31일(수)까지 제출 서류를 스캔하여 이메일 접수(gradaks@aks.ac.kr)
◦ 이메일 접수가 불가한 경우 우편 접수 가능
5. 선정 및 통보
◦ 선발 장학생 최종 선정 및 통보 : 2011년 10월 말
