The Department of Social and Economic Geography at Uppsala University invites applications for two, two-year full-time post-doctoral research positions in human geography starting September 2012. The Department has a strong international reputation and our staff engage in a broad range of research in human geography. We seek two outstanding postdoctoral researchers in any area of human geography to join our milieu.

The University: Founded in 1477, Uppsala University is the oldest university in the Scandinavia and one of the largest with more than 40,000 students and more than 2,000 graduate students. The University is one of the foremost research environments in Europe and has extensive library facilities and data resources that rank amongst the best in Europe. The University is located in the centre of lively and historic Uppsala, which is Sweden’s fourth biggest city and located 40 minutes north of the capital Stockholm and 20 minutes from Stockholm Arlanda International Airport.

The Position: The positions are a full-time research fellowship and the holders will have complete academic freedom to engage in the research they wish to pursue. We are seeking exceptional researchers who can demonstrate a strong commitment to scholarly research and publishing as well as an ambition to be at the forefront of research in human geography.

The fellowship holders will be expected to engage actively in research seminars and similar activities at the Department and will be expected to spend no more than the equivalent of 20% of full-time engaged in teaching or administrative duties.

Candidates must possess a doctoral degree in human geography received no more than three years before the application deadline.

Salary is set according to competency. Please indicate salary requirements in application.

Application shall include Curriculum Vitae, statement of research interests (maximum 3 pages), a copy of the certificate of doctoral exam, copies of written work (PhD dissertation and two published work), and names of three referees willing to provide a reference on request .
