Call for PapersÂ and Proposals
2013Â Im Conference of Korean Christianity, UCLA Center forÂ Korean Studies:
“Growth, Stagnation, Decline, and Renewal ofÂ the Protestant Churches in Korea, 1945-2013â€
Conference Date:Â April 19, 2013.
The conference aims to investigate growth and decline of the Christian churches in the post-Korean War Korea. It would include the following issues: history and theories of growth, stagnation, and decline of Protestant, Roman Catholic, and Anglican churches in contemporary Korea; comparison of Protestantism with Roman Catholicism; Critical issues in 1970s for the future life of Korean Christianity; Critical issues in 1980s; Major reasons of decline of Protestantism in 1990s; Critical issues in 2010s.
Please submit a proposalÂ by emailÂ toÂ Dr.Â Sung-Deuk Oak byÂ November 25,Â 2012.Â All proposals must include: (1)Â 500-700 word abstract, (2)Â a shortÂ CV,Â including full contact information.Â Junior scholars and doctoral students are encouraged to submitÂ proposals.
Four to fiveÂ presenters will be selected and notified byÂ December 15, 2012. They needÂ to submit the final full draft by MarchÂ 15, 2013.Â The papers should be unpublished ones.Â SeveralÂ reviewers will read the drafts and participate in the discussion sessions.
TheÂ UCLAÂ CenterÂ for Korean StudiesÂ will provide the presenters withÂ USÂ domestic roundtrip airfare,Â 2 night hotel accommodation, and up to $200Â travel reimbursement.
